Like people with other hobbies, many car aficionados would love the opportunity to get together with others who enjoy the same interest that they do. And, in the age of the Internet, forming a classic car club is easier than ever. In fact, starting a club today is a lot easier than starting any kind of club would have been twenty, thirty, or even five years ago. But, first, you have to decide what type of classic car club you would like to form. There are many forums, discussion boards, and the like where people who love classic cars already congregate. So, before you start a club, you first might want to search the Internet to see if one or more clubs of your liking, already exist. If not, then there are a few basic steps that you can take to get started.

Undoubtedly, the easiest way to start your new club is to take advantage of social media. For example, using a platform such as Facebook or Yahoo Groups, you can actually have a club up and running within a day. However, if you choose to use social media, the growth and rules of your club will be largely determined by the rules of the particular social media platform on which you create it. Therefore, if you want to completely set your own rules for membership and operation, the best advice is to start your own classic car club website.

The basics are simple. First, choose a domain name that you like and register it. If you want your club to be local, then append your locale to the name. Next, find an inexpensive but reliable web hosting company to host your website. And, lastly, choose one of the many free content management or membership management software platforms to publish your membership site on. If you are technically challenged, you should have no problem finding a student in your area to help you get your site up and running. Once your site is up, your biggest challenge will be figuring out a way to promote your web site so that people are aware of it. Once people become aware of your site, however, you can look forward to having years of enjoyment with your new community of friends.

There are many benefits associated with joining a club of any kind. A classic car club certainly has many defining attributes that one may not find in any regular car club. Classic cars are certainly something special and unique to be shared and enjoyed. From meeting new people to discovering fun events, there are many reasons to join. Take advantage of the opportunity if it should come your way.

Start off by doing some research online. Use various forms of keywords so that you can find differing results. A Google search will turn up several classic car clubs.

An online car club allows car owners to interact with one another no matter where in the world they happen to be located. It’s a great way to connect with others who share an interest in fine cars. The internet has made it an everyday ability to touch base with those nowhere physically near you. Interacting with fellow car lovers is just another way to use the World Wide Web to your advantage.

If you happen to be interested in the purchase of a certain type of car, consulting one of these web clubs can help with your decision. Most of these sites have discussion forums where you can find information on the vehicle in terms of engine specs, maintenance and the best price to bargain for. Likewise, if you have a problem with your vehicle, fellow owners of that same car may be able to help you out with it.

Most of these web based car clubs are strictly not for profit organizations. This means they should never ask for fees to join. There may occasionally be the option to pay a fee for additional membership perks but the option to join free is always there. Advertisers often use the site to sell features or parts for the car the club is focused on so there is never any need for members to have to pay anything to be part of an online community.

Many car clubs involve themselves in charity work and fundraising events. It’s a fantastic way to use your love for your vehicle to bring some positivity to others. Often fundraising will be done at a car show or event where people are invited to donate whatever they feel comfortable donating. Sometimes donations can be made through the club’s website.

Members of online car clubs tend to schedule meet and greets so that members can meet up in person. Those who live within a certain radius of one another may organize meet ups at a local track where it’s safe and legal to race or have a public barbecue. Car enthusiasts seek to share their passion with others who understand it. That camaraderie can be found easily with online car clubs.

If you are joining a die cast model car club you will probably want to join one that deals with certain collections. Certain “Mint” collections will offer a selection of different cars based on a common factor, whether it be manufacturer of the original automobile or the year range that particular auto came out. These collector’s club usually charge a set amount for each vehicle you purchase and then they will add in shipping. Sometimes as an incentive they will offer some sort of freebie gift to try and convince you to join.

If you do not mind paying a bit of money and are looking for a certain type of model car then this can be an okay way to go. You know you will get your car at a certain time each month and you know what it will cost you. The downside is that many of these collections do not usually gain in value. They are purely for the collector’s personal enjoyment. Another is that if there is a month that you are not able to afford one of the cars or you do not like the one being offered then you may still have to purchase it. If you do not then what value you do have in the collection can drop significantly.

If you love to build models then there is a whole other avenue of options available to you as well. Many of the clubs for builders offer free memberships and have a lot more to offer as well. You can talk to fellow club members and get plenty of tips and hints on ways to improve your model making skills. You can also learn where to find hard to get models and paints. Model building clubs can be very interesting in that they are a very good way to meet people from all over the world that share a common interest with you.

There are also some pay per membership clubs out there for model builders as well. Some of these may resemble an “of the month” type club. Offering a different model car each month they will send you the build kit and you may have to purchase your paints separately. It may take a bit of searching to find one of these but with a little time and some Internet hunting you should be able to find the one you would like to join. Model car clubs are an interesting way to meet people no matter if you want to build your own or just collect die cast ones. All you have to do is find the one that makes you feel the most welcome.
